In this chapter, the reader is introduced to a new character named Keisha, who is a member of the Volscian army. She is the daughter of a nobleman who served in the Ottoman Empire. Her father was a physician and her mother was a nurse. When she was a child, her father taught her the art of medicine, which she learned from her mother. When her father died, Keisha took over his father's medical practice and became a physician in the village of Irkutsk. She now lives with her father and his wife in the city of Iskutsk, where she works as a midwife.
