In this chapter, we get a little more insight into the mind of the Governess. She's a bit worried about what's going to happen to her, but she's also worried about how she'll be able to protect herself if something happens to her. The Governess tries to calm her down, but it's clear that she doesn't know what to do with herself. She tries to tell the others not to worry, but they're all too scared to do anything about it. She tells them to get away from the vines, but none of them want to leave. They're afraid of what they'll do if something does happen to them, so they just run away.
