Akane and his friend, chinatsu, are on their way to the river to fish, and Akane asks him if he likes the river. Akane tells him that he's really good at catching fish when he throws a rock at the water and it catches on the bottom. He shows Akane a fishing rod that he picked up for the trip, and he tells Akane that the rod is enchanted with fish. They're going to have a fish feast for dinner that night, Akane says, and they'll be able to catch a lot of fish with this fishing rod. He's impressed by the skip stone that they're using to catch fish. He says that it's hard to wade in the cold water, but he knows how to throw the rock. He thinks that the rock will help them catch fish when they throw it at the bottom of the river, because they need a flat rock like the one Akane uses to throw a rock. The captain says that they should try to catch three fish with the rock, but Akane thinks that's a little optimistic, because the captain told him that the fish will bite the first time they bait the rock with water.
