In this chapter, we learn that Kjiro San has been arrested for a murder he committed 10 years ago. The artist, who goes by the name of Kotokoiwanaga, explains that he went to Kr san to help him dispose of the dead body and cover up his crime. He was arrested for the murder of his father, who had given up his job as an alcoholic to go live with his mother in the big city. He explains that the guillotine, which had been on display for 20 years, had not been used on any human body. If a piece of a human body is found to contain traces of the guillotine's use, it could lead to the arrest of the murderer. The story of how the guillotine came to be used on a man is a lie, the artist explains, because it would mean that he himself would be executed for the crime.
