In this chapter, we are introduced to the "ultimate covet" , or desire for sex, which is the central theme of the novel. We are told that the ultimate covet is the desire to have sex with someone. In this case, it is the archangel Michael, who is in charge of the "heaven dungeon" . The narrator tells us that he cannot control himself in the dungeon, and that he desperately wanted to have some "fun." He cannot resist, however, because "the ultimate covet" will make people feel nothing except the desire of sex. He says that he will consider letting him go if he begs him to, but that if he does not, he will find someone else to sleep with. He will then have Michael learn his lesson, and he will have him sleep with his lieutenant, Bracken. Bracken tells the narrator that even Michael protected him when he was "sexting on" her.
