In this chapter, we learn that we're introduced to a new character named kelvin. He's the son of a manufacturer of a new type of medicine, and he's a little scared of the newfangled stuff that's coming out of his grandfather's laboratory. Turns out that his grandfather, a scientist, created the company and then left it to his parents to keep it secret. Supposedly, his parents adopted the scientist's wife, and the two of them started a new company of their own. Evidently, this didn't go over so well with the pharmacist, who had a sudden heart attack and died.
