The next morning, Huck and Roxane go to the doctor's office to find out what's going on. The doctor tells them that Benik has found the vampire-virus in Benik's dead body. Benik gave the virus to his sister, but because her dominant trait is against the virus, she has been left with some of it. Huck wonders why Benik would want to treat his sister when she's already got a lot of the bad stuff. He's not sure if it's because he's in love with her, or because she has terminal illness, but he can't figure out why she'd want to be treated that way. Huck is worried because Benik seems to have a family affair with Roxane, and he wonders if she'll be angry with him when he leaves.
