This chapter's epigraph comes from a conversation between the third brother and the Governess. The Governess tells her brother that the police will only release nana if they hand over all the evidence against her. The third brother says that he will go to the police station and hand over the documents. He says that since they already have nana as their hostage, their only option is to kill her.
