In this chapter, we are introduced to a new character, Ren Qiao, who works for the Baisha corporation. Ren tells us that the company has already purchased most of the buildings in the area, and that they are offering Ren a much lower price than the market average. Ren asks why the price is so much lower than the previous offer, and Ren tells him that the rumor was that the corporation was using "underhanded tactics" to buy the buildings at such a low price. Ren says that if Ren refuses to accept the lower price, the company will have to take certain measures to evict him.
