About This Chapter
The narrator tells us that the group he's in is so popular that they're holding a concert for ten thousand people at a cost of several hundred dollars. The narrator complains that his family is poor, but he still has to pretend to take care of his elder siblings in front of a crowd. He says that the whole town is packed with people who came to see him. He also tells the narrator that his hairstyle reminds him of his mother, who's been paying off her debts. The company is developing a new boy's band with a lot of money, and they'd like to add a younger singer. The youngest singer in the new group is just 16 years old. He's not good at singing, and the company doesn't think that he'll be good enough to sing in the group.
