In this chapter, we learn that the wizard has tried his best to convince the tiger to leave the mountain, but that he is afraid that the tiger will not use the soul of Hu's son to protect him. In the meantime, the undead king city of China is booming with activity. The wizard is horrified to find that the rat has come to him. He tells the rat that three swords knew that he would not use his magic to kill the rat, and therefore, the rat asked the three swords to come and rescue him. The rat is about to die, the wizard tells him, and he should be killed first. The rats have been trapped in the soul-destruction tower, and they cannot wait to devour and replenish themselves. The only thing that can stop them from devouring and replenishing themselves is the fact that they see living beings like the wizard, and that is why they cant wait to do so. The last thing the wizard wants to do is cast the spell of eternal heaven, earth, and yin and yang. He instructs the five universal elements to follow his orders.
