About This Chapter
The chapter opens with a description of a "twisted" city. The narrator tells us that the last "illiterate demon" he knew was still in depression, behind closed doors, and that the taoist was too scary. He tells the shopkeeper that three new faces had appeared, including a senior messenger from the organization. He adds that there were many demons hiding in secret in the city and that they were always getting along with humans. He says that this is the "number one enemy" , but he doesn't know why. He asks the messenger if he can fix the problem. He also asks the duke why he is inquiring about it. The duke says that the marquis had disappeared a long time ago, and the leaders mumble that they didn't want to disturb the waters. The demon attacks the narrator, and he loses it.
