In this chapter, we learn that the master of consciousness is the same person who destroyed Little Dedlock's memories. He's also the same man who destroyed the memories of the little girl, and he's using the same magic to destroy her. The only problem is that he can't remember anything in detail, and the only way to get rid of it is to use the spirit-slash-sword.
