The monster tells the others that he is in the black box. He thanks them for taking care of the qiange. He says that all the attacks are useless to him, and he offers his blood to the descendants of his ancestors. The two men rush to his aid, and the monster begs them not to kill him. He blames himself for the deaths of the three children. He promises to visit them often.
