This chapter opens with a flashback to the Ming family's mistreatment of the elderly Ming man. The old man is still alive and well, but his health has declined. The elder Ming man tells the young man that he is going to kill the Ming man because he is in love. The young man is shocked at the news, but the elder Ming tells him to calm down.
