In this chapter, the vampire hunter explains the origin of his family. He learned from the elders of the clan that vampires and humans have been fighting each other for hundreds of years. He explains that his ancestors all come from the blood-race, which means that his blood runs in his veins. He tells the audience that the vampire war was originally between humans and vampires, and that there is now no longer a "feline gap" between them. He hopes that he can protect his love from the evil of the vampire. He says that albert mentioned the Duke's castle when he was escaping, and he doesn't think that this turmoil will come from albert alone, but for so long he has been ashamed of his love for her. Two days have passed since the first time she took the antidote, and she has not regained consciousness. The vampire hunter says that the antidote does not seem an antidote, but merely an effect of the poison. He warns the duke not to let anyone in the house, as this will reduce his lifespan. The duke says that they can think of ways to cure her, but that he will need to use his own blood. The lord says that he has decided that she
