In the middle of the night, the vampire hunter, locke, meets up with his sister-in-law, qiange, who has been hiding out in the city. The two of them discuss what has happened, and locke reveals that the family hasn't received a reply from Uncle Lehman. He also says that the carriage of Lord Lehman has been attacked by the bloodthirsty blood race, which is breaking their contract with the three vampire hunter clans. The vampire hunter is excited to see his sister, but she's still so shy that he can't talk to her. He tells her that the sun is going to go out, which means that he's going to die today. He asks her to come with him, and she says that she doesn't know whether or not the lord is still alive or dead. She begs him to protect her, and he says that he won't let her get hurt. He then asks her where her brother, Randall, is.
