This chapter opens with a bang. It's the cross of Lehman, who's just returned from the forest. He's okay, he says, and they've agreed to meet in the underground city that's underground right now. Confused, randall asks why Lehman has his cross with him. Lehman says he's fine, he'll meet him in the city by now. He turns around and says he doesn't want the sacrifice of his life to be wasted, so he wants to go to the city right away. Worried that they're about to be attacked, he promises to protect them. Suddenly, randall runs up to them and says that Lehman's been attacked, so they need to get into the city now.
