We learn that the adopter of the first baby at the shelter is ami, who's never asked anyone for help. Ami is the first animal to be adopted at the new animal shelter, and the narrator is so happy to have found her that he calls her ami. He tells her that she reminds him so much of his own childhood, and he tells her to go back to where she came from.
