About This Chapter
The narrator tells us that he's not falling in love with him yet. He's going to find ami, but he doesn't know what to do with it. He thinks that it's a stray cat that's been gone for 20 days. The narrator has three possible outcomes for the cat: starving to death, adopted by another, or taken into a shelter. The first two are like looking for the needle in the haystack. The third is like going to the haystack to find the needle, but the cat hasn't been found. The only thing that can be done is to go to the house of the couple that adopted the cat. They've been living in the house for a month now, and the narrator knows that they're moving out soon. He tells the couple to get out of the house, because he can read the cat-'s thoughts. He also tells them that they can't find the shelter on the map, because the shelter isn't registered. He says that they should just evict the couple, since they've already moved out. The couple is a young couple who started a shelter to help stray animals, but they haven't moved out yet. They need to get the shelter registered, because if they don't, they won't be able to sell the cat to a new owner. They have to fill out a list of all the animals that are unadopted, which means that the shelter has to give them a new name and a new address.
