One student is missing, and the police and fire departments come looking for him. The police question him about the fire, and he admits that he is the one who started it. He says that he has the rest of his life ahead of him, and that he doesn't want to say that it was his fault. He tells Beatrice that he can't remember any of the paintings by the artist, but he does remember dreams about the missing girls. One day, he packed up amber and left the school. He still dreams about it, and continues to wander around the hallways of the school, looking for amber. Sometimes, he is chased by a shadow, which he runs away from. He wonders if his life has been so bad that he hasn't been as bad as he should have been.
