About This Chapter
In this chapter, the three young people discuss the events of the previous night. The narrator tells the audience that he has seen the ghost of Anne before, but that she has never responded to his calls for help. He tells them that Anne's stepmother is an evil woman, and that this is why Anne feels free in the forest. He asks if Anne wants revenge against her stepmother and her stepsisters, and Anne replies that she does. She tells him that the fairy queen and the fairy king live happily ever after, amidst the trees. Anne asks if she means her dreams, as long as she is awake, and the narrator tells her that he grabbed her by the shoulder and told her to stay awake. Anne tells the narrator that her dreams are different that night at her party, and she asks if he has been fooling around again with a mirror. Anne says that mirrors are considered gateways into the spirit world, and says that Anne will go ballistic if she sees them again. Anne wants to know if Anne has dared to do mirror dares at the school, but Anne tells her not to worry, as she knows Anne will not do so. Anne then asks Anne to confirm what she has heard in her dreams. She says that she needs to find out more, like if Anne had an axe, or if Anne wanted to maim the people around her
