When the crows are gone, Mingjiu asks sanyang why he refuses to leave the house. He tells him that he has a troublesome visitor and that he is grateful that they keep coming to see him. Mingjiu says that his cooking is delicious, but he is thin and puny. He asks if they should join him for dinner, but syang says that they would not want to impose on him, as he is still wise and majestic. He says that he did not bring his whole body over to Mingjiu, but Mingjiu is still as strong as ever. He explains that the most important thing in life is to preserve the memories he has of his dead wife, and if he cannot reason with Mingjiu he will have to bring Mingjiu with him by force
