In this chapter, we are introduced to a new character named Qu'anqian. He is the son of a wealthy family in the town of Ganymede, in the province of Guizhou, China. He was raised by his grandparents, who were very fond of him. When he was a young child, he used to snub his father, who was the head of the household. Now, as a grown man, he has grown to respect his son more and more. He tells his son that he is proud of his son's courage and bravery. He also tells him that the day when they parted ways was the day of a very important competition, in which they both took part. He says that every time he recalls this day, his heart still wrenches at a little. He then goes on to say that he has been preparing for the competition, and that his teacher had forced him to do so too. He thanks his father for his kind words, and goes inside to cheer up his sister.
