When the narrator returns home, he finds that his sister is very fond of her brother. He asks her why she hasn't been sleeping, and she tells him that she's hungry because her roommate has been eating snacks all night. He tells her that his roommate is still angry at her for being late, and that she can't bully him like that because it makes him feel like he's "still beside me" . She tells him to go home and put that "mild tone" back on, and he agrees. They'll have their last family meal together, he says, and they'll be "your family" once again.
