The scene opens on the roof of the house where the wine party is being held. The wine master tells Duan-Fin to follow him. He asks where the parrot is, and she replies that she is making tea for the distinguished duan-fei. He tells her that if she is not used to being in the house, she can leave now. He says that she must have felt uncomfortable to be making tea in the position she is in, and that she should not belong here if she does not want her future to be spoiled or her family to die accidentally. He then tells her to go to Hong-Zhuang, where he will give her permission to leave. Duan fei asks to see him, and he tells him that he can beat him if he is angry. He also says that he has helped him to kill his enemies, but how could he be so. He adds that he did not catch what he said just now, but that he will be fine. He apologizes for what happened the last time, and says he would like to stand here and tell him what is going on. He wants to know what will happen to the family now that they are gone.
