In this chapter, we learn that the first time we saw each other was back in the day, when Yulan was a little boy and his mother was still alive. Yulan's mother is now dead, and his father is in debt. He tells Yulan that he never forgot his mother, and that he can't really forgive him for betraying her. He also tells her that he's going to hand over the evidence to the prosecutor, so that he won't have to face the charges in court. He asks Yulan if she's willing to spend her life with him, and she says yes. She also tells him that she loves him too, and they're happy together.
