Dr. Hartley tells us that the military has called for his services, and that he forgot to bring his phone with him. He says that he is a former thoracic surgeon who is now a serial killer. He tells Dr. Jones that the body that was found in the northbrook neighborhood is the same body as the one that was killed in the Chicago area. He explains that the reason he was called was because they needed his help. He asks if anyone else was involved in the crime, and Jones says that they were. He adds that the agents in charge do not understand Hartley's behavior, but he does, for he is the one who "gave a new shock" to his "boring life" . Mr. Jones agrees that they are not the ones to punish Hartley, but that Hartley has shown an interest in them "beyond normal"
