In this chapter, the sheriff explains how he and his partner, a former member of the special forces, became partners. Some federal sheriffs thought that the new sheriff had received a "unmerited benefit," but after six months, they realized that the former special forces man was a nightmare. The two men have been partners for three years, so they've gotten used to each other's behavior. But now that the man has a gun, they're going to have to kill him. The sheriff explains that he's stronger than the man, so he'll have no problem killing him. He says that he hates it when the man gets hurt, because the man doesn't like women.
