About This Chapter
The narrator wakes up in the middle of the night to find that he has caught a butterfly in his dream. He tells himself that he is dreaming about the same dream he had the night before. He knocks on the door of the house where he is staying and finds that some of his relatives have come to stay with him. He asks if they would like to see him when he gets the house back, but they refuse, saying that they have to make him candied sweet potatoes. The narrator asks if he can surprise his grandfather with some sweet potatoes, but he says that he must make him some before going out. He then tells him that he had to go to bed late because he had no lessons for the day, and he has red spots on his neck from the mosquitoes that he was bitten by last night. He also tells him to be careful with the weather, as it is getting hotter and the insects are getting more frequent. When the narrator asks how he can go to class the next day, he says he lost control of the situation last night, and now he will not do it again
