The scene opens with the narrator lamenting the fact that his love for Xiejing has brought him "agony" . He is worried about her dress, which has changed a great deal in the past few days. He asks the photographer to take back the photo he has taken of her, but the photographer refuses to do so, saying that he has already taken many pictures of her. He tells the photographer that if he gets permission from her, he can take some of the pictures as a collection. The two men discuss the recent events in their relationship and decide that they need to "seek right" , which is to seek happiness. They are interrupted by the arrival of Cai Zhen's car. Cai Zhen tells him that he is tired of coming to the park by car and that he must be "tired of coming by" because he has been "tired" of seeing his fiancee. Cai tells him to stop looking at her and to "start up" gossiping about her. Cai asks where he is going, and he is told that he will have to change his clothes because the staff is waiting outside to change him. Cai says that he heard that a rival had come to the meeting, and that the rival was trying to "vie the financing" of the meeting. He decides to wait until the news is out before making any guesses.
