The chapter opens with a knock at the door. It's the manager, and he wants to know what's going on. He tells the manager to go to his office and find the girl. The girl is in danger, he says, because she's locked in the boss's office. The boss says he's just accidentally knocked the chair down, and the sound was the same as before. He's got something urgent for the girl, and wants her to open the door and let him in. She's fine, the boss says, and they're off to discuss business matters. He asks the girl to shut her mouth when he goes out, but she won't, so he'll let her in when he gets back. The manager tells the girl that he just came to ask about a strategic plan, and that if he goes too far, it'll be very hard to clean it up if the whole thing is blown up. He says he just wanted to ask the girl about the plan, but that she should stay away from the plan too much, otherwise it will be very difficult to clean up the mess if it's blown up, and she'll have to stay away too long. He also tells the boss that the girl's neck has been hurt, and it looks like she might have had some kind of struggle. He suggests that the manager send someone to get the manager
