The chapter opens with a flashback to a high school party in which a girl named Lily works as an executive at a company. Lily is from the same school as the company's new head of marketing. The new boss asks Lily if she's going to give Lily a hand in running the company now that he's taken over. Lily doesn't want to give the girl a hand, but she does want to know if there's anything she can do about it. The boss tells Lily that the company needs a "thorough restructuring" . He also tells Lily to keep an eye on the new boss, because the situation of the company is "much more complicated" than he initially thought. He says that he needs more time to find out more about the boss's business dealings. He suggests that Lily report back to him if she has any new leads. Lily thinks that this is a good idea, since he'll be able to dig up more information from the boss. She also warns Lily that her pay for the month will be cut by half. Lily says that's a gross abuse of power, and that she'll have to wait a second before she can help. Lily wonders why there are always marks on the original documents, and wonders if the marks are caused by a new document being pasted on top of the original document. Lily points out that the marks could be caused by someone else's handwriting on the document, and notes that there is an email address
