About This Chapter
In this short scene, the young narrator is overjoyed to meet Bichen, who has returned to the stage after a long absence. The young narrator tells Bichen that she is still beautiful, and that she has brought along her lover, Fang. He tells her that he has always wanted to see her, and she hugs him. She tells him that she hasn't been feeling so happy for a long time, because she has been involved in a lot of controversies about the song, and has been asked to apologize for the song's plagiarizing. She says that she doesn't know what else to do, since she has heard a lot from people asking her to apologize to the song. She asks Bichen if it's okay for her to see the song in its original form, and he says that it is, but he has been avoiding the whole thing. He says that the people who have been harassing him have been nasty to his teachers, and have spilled paint on his door of his dormitory. He wishes that this thing would be over soon, because he feels that it was Bichen who copied him. He also says that he's quit writing, and now he is an ordinary student. He wonders why Bichen didn't say anything about the plagiarism on the internet, since it was her. She even stayed with her, in a small hotel, when the director wanted to hire her to play the part of the director in his work. He asks her to stay away from him from now on, but she refuses, saying that she still owes him a beating
