The narrator tells us that winter is his favorite season because it is the time of the year when the student councils are the most popular. He says that Mizutani has saved him from being bullied by other students. He also says that he is invited to a party at the President's birthday. The narrator says that she is completely out of her element when it comes to dancing and manners at the party because she is so excited to be there. She tells the narrator that she has heard that he was at the tennis tournament last year and that she was glad to hear that he would be joining the student council. She asks the narrator to introduce her to the new member of the council. He does so, and the narrator tells him that she does not know Mizutan. She says that the first thing she noticed about him was his diligent and willed nature. She wonders how much he must have hated her if she could not bear to see her face anymore.
