Act 23 opens in a pub in London, where a group of young men have gathered to celebrate the end of the school year. One of the young men, known only as "Sano," has just returned from a trip to India, where he has been working as a waiter. He has come to meet up with his friend "Yoo," who is also in the pub. The two of them discuss their plans for the evening, and they decide to have a drink together. When the waiter informs them that they are not allowed to have more than one drink at a time, they agree to do so.
