The chapter opens with the narrator lamenting the fact that he's been a sex slave for three years. He's worried that his feelings for Sora have changed, but he doesn't want to hurt her. He tells the other students in the dorm that they can take their time with Sora, but that they should hurry and make a decision about whether or not they want to have sex with him. He also tells them that they shouldn't be too hard on him, because he'll probably die if he tries to get too close to her. The narrator then tells us that Berne has become a laughingstock in the school because of the rumors about him and Sora. He says that teachers now have doubts about him because he made a mistake on an exam. Berne says that he worked very hard to get to this point, and that he has become an honor student and a favorite of adults. He explains that the teachers have become suspicious of Sora's homosexuality because of his position in the sex slave system, and because he wanted to be the top student in the world. He admits that he can't explain the reason for the teachers' suspicions, and he wonders if he can do the same thing to himself, too.
