The narrator tells us that he invited his friend to come with him to a party, but that she's too busy with her work to make it. He's going to go anyway, since he's seen a lot of other people since graduating from college. The narrator says that he'd love to see the guy, but he doesn't want to attract people who aren't into the service industry. He says he'll go anyway because there's so much going on at the party that he can't bear to be left out. He asks what she plans to do, and she says she'll work. He tells her that he finished work on a "satur" day, which is a kind of sexy thing to do in the middle of the night, and that he wants to make sure that she has a good time. He wants to protect her, he says, and he wants her to feel good about what's happened. He tries to get her to kiss him, but she'd rather not, because it'll make her feel better. He kisses her, and they kiss.
