This chapter opens with a conversation between a young woman and her lawyer. The young woman asks her lawyer if she can have an affair while her husband is away at work. The lawyer tells her that it's not possible to have sex while being away from your husband. The woman wonders if it would be better to run away from her husband and her city and live in the country. She wonders how her husband will react if she tells him about the affair. She also wonders if her lawyer will be able to prove that she had sex with her husband while he was away.
