"An Affair While Being By My Husband" is the title of this chapter. It opens with a soliloquy by a woman who has just had an affair with her husband. She tells him that she doesn't want to have sex with him and that she's tired of the whole thing. She's sick of it, she tells him. He's cold to her, he's been selfish, and she blames him for hurting her. She wants to go back to her parents' house and tell them what's happened. She says that she can't bear to live with him any longer, and that's why she wants to get a divorce. He says that they can still get along, but that he won't be able to keep her for nothing.
