This chapter opens with a flashback to a time when a woman named Mamie was having an affair with her husband. Mamie's husband pushed Mamie down and raped her, and Mamie cried and screamed. She apologizes, but Mamie is sure that Mamie wanted a divorce so she wouldn't have to leave Mamie alone with Mamie. She says that she's glad Mamie didn't leave her alone with her, because Mamie would have treated Mamie like a "sex slave." Mamie says she doesn't know where Mamie has gone, but she does know that she wants Mamie to give birth to her child, and she'll give Mamie the money she needs to do so.
