The scene opens in the apartment of the Governess, who is in the process of re-wiring her apartment's electrical system. The Governess asks her servant to re-attach the power cord so that she can watch her favorite show on the big screen. The servant tells her that it will take three months to do so, and that she should bring some ice cream to share with her friend. The two of them meet outside the apartment, and she asks him why he hasn't eaten. He says that he didn't act well in his last performance and that he's not sure why he did it. She asks him if he'd done the same thing five years ago, when he was acting in another play. He replies that he did. She tells him that she doesn't have any money for food, so if he would like to eat some of the vegetables grown by her family, she'll do so. She says that she's glad that he feels at home, and thanks him for his help. He thanks her for giving him the ability to do what he wanted to do, even if it meant giving up his fame and becoming famous. She apologizes that he forgot to be kind to people, and says that being kind is normal in the world of work.
