The narrator is all, "Hey, I'm so glad you're here. I told the guy I was going to go to the party, but I didn't expect you to actually show up." The guy's all "Oh, no, I was just going to hang out with a girl." The narrator doesn't know what to make of this, but he does know that the guy is drunk, and that he and the girl are "lovey squeezes," meaning they're in love with each other. The guy is all "Whoa, I thought you were drunk today."
