In this chapter, we learn that the King of Spain's wife, the Duchess of Castile, has been kidnapped by the Prince of Castile's son, the Duke of Castile. The Duchess, in turn, is kidnapped by her son's father, who is a member of the King's court. The Prince is furious at the news of his daughter's abduction, and he threatens to kill the Duchess if she does not return to Spain.
