About This Chapter
This chapter's epigraph comes from a poem by a famous poet, Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. Longfellow's poem is about a young girl who has been orphaned. The girl is a member of the brahma-heart sect, which is a sect dedicated to the study of heaven's healing powers. The young girl has been sent back to the lian-yun sect by her grandmaster, who thought that her cultivation was too strong, so she sent her back to her old sect. This is the first time that the young girl's name has come up in a poem, and she's thrilled to be reunited with her old master. She's even more excited to be back in the company of her old friend, who's at least a hundred years younger than her. She tells him that she met the young man at a brahma temple, where he was a disciple of the tian-qin master. He was injured by the scepter, but escaped from the temple. He's now back in his old sect, but he's still very much in love with the girl. He tells her that he'll help her find the thief, and then he and her sister will go after the thief.
