In this chapter, the monster tells the norse that he has taken the conch so that they will not kill each other. He tells them that they are not as bloodthirsty as he said they were, and that they must destroy the conch. He says that he will take them to his cave, where they will find out what is going on. He explains that he is learning to control the monster so that he does not have to worry about being remembered.
