About This Chapter
Now that he's dead, Aasbjorn is back in his old ways. He's still trying to protect his family, even though he doesn't care about his daughter anymore. He wants her to be a good wife and mother, even if it means she's going to have to kill her own father. He also wants to make sure that her father is punished for his betrayal of the family. He tells his daughter that she should go fetch the prince and tell him what's happened. The prince is shocked to find out that his daughter has been kidnapped by a witch. He asks his daughter why she hasn't untied her arms, and she tells him that they can't leave her there to rot. She also tells the prince that the king is going to kill his daughter. He says he'll hand the prince the scale that proves that he belongs to a different class of people than he is. He then tells his father that he heard about the witch's plans to kill him. He begs his father to help him escape, and he tells him to kill the other witch and take the other one instead.
