About This Chapter
In this chapter, we learn that Gunnar is the first person to enter Bjorn's room after his brother's murder. When he asks the guards why they didn't come to him that night, one of them says that they were too busy trying to get the new prince into the room. When Bjorn asks why he's not tearing his head off, Gunnar says that Bjorn has more balls than he does, and that he'll leave if Bjorn doesn't show him his hands. Bjorn asks where his father's body is, and Gunnar tells him that he found him half a day after the murder. Bjorn says that when he was a child, he ran away with Bjorn, and they never saw each other again. One day, Bjorn killed a warrior with an axe, and now Bjorn is still hurting him, but he won't allow his daughter to die for her sins. Bjorn tells us that he killed Bjorn because Bjorn found out that Bjorn murdered his brother. He says that one of his men saw Bjorn hiding an object after he left the room, and then Bjorn chased the thief on horseback. Bjorn explains that his father made him open a wooden puzzle box that he loved, but that it took him a long time to do. He tells Bjorn that the only people he kills quickly are the "rare soldiers" who are "as rabid as me" . If you have the courage to do something, Bjorn says, then do it.
