About This Chapter
"The two worlds of Half-dan" , the narrator tells us, is coming to an end. He tells us that he's going to celebrate the end of the war with a party at his house. He's got a lot to talk about. First, he wants to congratulate his son , who's been training hard for the fight. Then he asks his father about his son's sparring partner, who he thinks is a good fighter, but he doesn't want to fight a woman. He wants his son to fight freydis, because he thinks that's the way he'll do it. He also wants to know why his son didn't take the party to another part of the island, where they could have a better chance of winning the war. He asks if his son is okay, and then he asks if he can find out where his ship's crew is. He knows that a pirate named Arnvald may have been on his way to attack the ships, and he also knows that his half-brother, Njrd, has abandoned the ship. He begs his father to lead an expedition to the island with some of the warriors. He says that they're better fighters than the pirates, and that if he goes with them, they'll beat the pirates.
