In this chapter, we are introduced to a new character, the "loverboy" . He is a young lawyer who has just been promoted to the rank of assistant attorney general. He has just received a letter informing him that his client, moe, has made up her mind to divorce him. The letter is addressed to "the loverboy," and the contents of the letter are as follows: "moe has decided to divorce the loverboy because he is an attorney. She has made the decision because she does not want to be associated with him in any way, shape, or form. The loverboy, however, does not believe that moe has made such a decision. He wonders if there is a way for him to convince her to stay with him.
